A quote by me. I thought of this one day while driving down a country road after our 1st big snowfall of the year. I kept wanting to stop and take pictures - It seemed everything was at the right angle. It was all so beautiful with all the snow piled on the evergreens. My mom would not stop though and I became rather upset. I sat there looking out the window feeling bad because I couldn't have a picture of this wonderland. After a while I thought to myself - Why not just sit back and enjoy the scenery and soak it all up to make a memory rather than worrying about having a picture to remember it by? - Yes, pictures are always nice, but the fact of seeing it in real life and remembering it that way is better than any photo. Besides, no one can really ever comprehend the beauty of the Lord's creation through a picture...
This is true about just life too. We worry so much about how we look and how we "should" act when, in the end, it's not going to matter. Be yourself... look how you were meant to look because when you look back on your life, that's what's going to stand out - those memories of you who acted and looked like you. No one can really ever comprehend the beauty of you unless you let it show. You're beautiful how you were born ya know - you're God's creation!
Absolutely true! If we're too busy thinking "I need to get a shot of that!" we're less likely to think "Thank You, Lord, for weaving such beauty into Your handiwork." Like you said, trying to capture the moment can't replace the joy of experiencing it.
